Literary Essay: Angelaˇs Ashes
The novel ¨Angelaˇs Ashes〃 written by Frank McCourt is a fascinating real story of growing up as poverty at his hometown of Limerick Ireland. This story is written from the point of view of the young boy, Frank telling the life of his family and how he survived from the ¨miserable childhood〃 (McCourt 11). The illness, death, a drunken father, a worn-out mother, tormenting teachers, and mean & uncaring relatives were what Frank has to deal with in rest of his unhappy childhood. Throughout the book, I can see the development of tragedies and hardship Frank involved in growing up, and how has influenced these factors impact on him turning to be a real man in different aspects, and leads himself finding his manhood with grace and dignity. In addition, my book club experiences I had with my peers helped me to look at a child grow up from poverty certain aspect that I couldnˇt extra out while I was reading the book; furthermore, I was obsessed by the content and the textual strategies the author used in the novel.
