- A festival of reversal, similar to Holi, but specially meant for unmarried girls.
- Primary participants are unmarried, pubescent girls from the Oriya Saunra and Sabar adivasi(tribal) castes.
- Song and dance is an important part.
- The general mood is one of license and reversal on this day, marked most dramatically by reversal of social hierarchies when celebrants spray indelible colored water on persons higher on the hierarchy than themselves. (51 Flauckiger). During this festival, women are also allowed to stop a passerby and surround him. They may curse him and hurl dust on him. They let him go only if he gives them some money.
