Philosophy Essay
The ontological argument has many versions to it. In this essay it will be focusing on the argument that was done by Anselm. He was the first to come up with this idea and later other philosophers put in their own ideas or changed it. This essay will discuss the ontological argument by Anselm, what other philosopher had to say about the argument, what Anselm has to say to the critique made against him and how this argument is not a very strong argument.
In order to understand the argument and to understand the weaknesses and the strengths of this argument, there are some terms that will be clarified the next few small paragraphs.
A priori are propositions that are known before or are independent of experiences. Examples of an a priori proposition are mathematical truths such as 2 2 = 4 or definitions like all bachelors are unmarried adult males.
A posterior truths are those that need of the sense experience for the answer to be known or to be justified. An example would be those answers that need an experiment to be proven right or wr......
