Koady Humphreys.MINIMBAH Primary School pupils will boost their financial literacy after the school became the first in Australia to sign up to the FinLit Enactus program last Tuesday.
The educational initiative is thanks to the Enactus group at the University of New England.
Enactus UNE member Koady Humphreyssaid the “revolutionary” program includes vital financial education that he believes can be left out of the NSW school curriculum.
“Essentially we have pin-pointed the areas we think students need to know,” Mr Humphreys said. “Basically the project is going to be drawing on areas thatthe curriculum and the current syllabus NSW doesn’t cover.”
The project is two years in the making for the non-profit organisation.
Mr Humphreys said the project will start small, and hopes to involve a few local schools before expanding the program.
“We aim to contact schools in the near future because we haven’t made any contacts thus far,” he said.
Schools interested in participating in FitLit should email [email protected] for more information.
