Sue Pickett had her first win of the season, defeating Sam Faulkner in three, while teammate Chris Stamos also contributed with a 3-1 win over Pedr Sawdy.

Team Callaway could thank Scott Jaensch for keeping them alive. He defeated Sharon MacFarlane, also in four.

With Cougars leading 2-1, it was up to Gary Callaway to win in three for his team to have a chance. On the other side of the court, Shayne Slorach needed at least a game.

Callaway won the first two games, although they were tight, before Slorach got a deserved game to get Cougars home.

Callaway closed it out in four, but the damage was done in a highly entertaining match.

The other close match of the night saw Sliding Doors and The Educators go down to the wire.

Lachie Jaensch had a great 16-14 win over Donna Fisher to get The Educators off and running, but it was soon 1-all when Tyler McPhee continued his early season form to defeat Steve Pongrac in four.

John Gooch then gave the advantage to Sliding Doors before Adam Stephens and Kevin Healy did battle.

Stephens needed to win three against his favoured opponent but an injury to Healy made it all the more interesting.
